Mahindra looks like putting in the last minute touches to the all-new venture that would carry the looks of a crossover, but would be estimated and afloat like a B-segment hatchback.
It is reported the machine would be carrying ample space in the interior, even after its compact designing. The designers have smartly crafted the lift to escalate the gear lever that is still on test being an automated transmission. As reported a manual transmission will also be optional. A length-wise layout, the panel begins with a music system and features three rotating knobs for the HVAC.
The steering looks like 4-spoke unit, and should comprise the controls for the music system. An instrument frame with a silver insert is seen up front.The S101, as reported prior, will be based on an all-new platform. It will be the second monocoque platform for Mahindra, the first was the XUV500. The small model will be powered by newly-developed petrol and diesel engines, which are reported to be three-cylinder units with 1.2L displacement. The S101 is Mahindra’s second monocoque platform and product.

Auto enthusiast Mr.Tarun Tripathy dotted the S101 testing in Chennai this week. As per his observations, the mule was a diesel variant standing tall on 14-inch wheels and sported roof rails.
The machine would be competing with the current running Maruti XA Alpha, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, VW Taigun. It is expected to be estimated at INR 5-7lakhs, ex showroom and is expected to out by later part of this year.
