While there are numerous changes been introduced to the manufacturers, being extremely picky and stringent about the safety norms and laws in the country. The Global NCAP findings are also evolving now, offering more stricter laws to be implemented and no chance is being taken when the safety and security comes into picture. Lately, the Latin NCAP tested the made-in-India Hyundai Grand i10 with crash tests the car came out scoring a zero star ranking. Now, the company cannot be really blamed for this, as the same car, the Hyundai Grand i10, manufactured and traded in the Europe acquired a 4 star ranking, however the Indian spec model dint not live up to the mark and expectation!
The tested car was manufactured in our country, and was made for the Chilean market. The base model of the Hyundai Grand i10, produced in India and sold in Chile, managed to score a Zero stars while it was tested in an Adult Occupant Protection and two stars with Child Occupant Protection. If in case the comparison to the Euro spec model is done, NCAP declares that there are comprehensible difference in the equipment levels as the European basic model certainly offers frontal and side airbags. Additionally the European spec offers child seat ISOFIX anchorages along with the anti-skid technique, electronic stability control (ESC) supplementing to a sturdy frame, that managed to earn itself a four star rating by Euro NCAP.
The unit that has been tested by the Latin NCAP was found with the airbags missing, no ISOFIX anchorages and no ESC equipment and also appeared to be standing on an unstable platform. Maria Fernanda Rodriguez, Latin NCAP President reported that it is indeed very surprising and sad at the same time that the car offered for their auto-market has a completely different fixture, as compared to the European model. This kind of a result has indeed surprised and shocked, considering a big brand like Hyundai that has been in the market dong great for decades now, We feel this is really insulting for our nation as well, and who so ever needs to be held responsible for this should be made to answer on the same. It?s even high tie or Govt. starts taking the security norms seriously and pay additional attention on the same. Safety and protection is an integral mater, each and every citizen of any country deserves.
