Bentley to spruce up production of W12 engines

Bentley will going to stop the current production of its W12 engine in Germany as the production of the W12 engine will be permanently shifted from Germany to Bentley headquarter located in Crewe in England. Bentley expected to become the new Centre for Excellence for the technology within the VW Group.

Currently Bentley Produces around 5000 W12 engine annually, It is anticipated that it would be increased to 9000 units by 2017-18 as Bentley getting more demands from its clients such as Audi and Volkswagen. Bentley would be going to equipped the engines in its Continental GT, GTC and Flying Spur models. . This extended figure includes engines for Bentley’s upcoming SUV which will launch in 2016.

Company boss Wolfgang Schreiber said "This is an important step, not just for Bentley but also for the UK manufacturing sector”. The move also means Bentley will start exporting engines for the first time in its history.

"This W12 centre of excellence is recognition of the long standing engine manufacturing expertise we have that has resulted in performance improvements across the model ranges over recent years."

To gear up the engine production Bentley would have to hire 100 employees more. It is reported that half of the employees has already been hired by the company.
