2014 Skoda Octavia RS world premier concludes, launch awaited
The new Octavia RS is fastest, largest and most comfortable model from Skoda. Added up with power and technology, it can give a top speed of 248 kmph making it ideal for everyday as well as for long driving.
The new generation Octavia with performance favored version made its first public outing at Goodwood Festival of Speed in England, on July 11th. 2014 Skoda Octavia RS will be available in petrol and diesel variants, both having highly efficient engines. It is equipped with well-furnished interiors along with safety and comfort features, besides good value of money.
The car is offering a six-speed manual transmission or an optional DSG dual clutch automatic driving for front wheels. The petrol Octavia RS comes in with a 2.0 litre turbocharged four engines (220PS) accelerating the car to 100km/h in 6.8 seconds till the top speed of 248kmph. The earlier petrol version had manual transmissions around 6.2l/100 km (37.9 mpg US or 45.6 mpg UK), while new Octavia is 17 percent or 1.3l/100 km more economical. CO2 emissions have also dropped to 142 g/km (drop by 33g).
The other variant i.e. diesel RS receives a 2.0 litre diesel engine which can run to 62mph (100km/h) in 8.1 seconds and can attain the maximum speed of 145mph (232km/h). The engine is paired off with manual transmission 4.6l/100km (5.1 mpg US or 61.4 mpg UK) and emits 119g/km CO2 which is 19 percent less as compared to older model.
Both variants are renewed with lowered chassis, an electric differential lock (XDS) integrated into the electronic stability control system, bigger and wider wheels, aerodynamic improvements, mild styling and also featured with trimmed interior.
Skoda Octavia is just gone through its first outing but the company hasn’t declared any launch date yet. The wait is on for it.
